Frequently Asked Questions

At All-State Fire & Security LLC, we get asked a lot of great questions about the fire and security systems we provide for both our commercial and residential customers. This is why we have included some of the more commonly asked ones below so you’ll have a better understanding of how we can best serve you and your needs.

Q: Can I get a monitored security system if I only have a cell phone?
A: There is a cell backup unit that can be installed.  The cell backup unit uses the cellular network to transmit signals if no land line is available.  A cell backup unit is also a great addition for land line security to offer extra protection in case land lines are damaged or cut.

Q: How often does my extinguisher need to be inspected?
A. Extinguishers are inspected annually.  This is a great time to have your exit lights, semi-annual fire suppression system, and fire alarm inspection done as well.  Call today to schedule your inspection.

Q: Do I need to have my exit lights inspected?
A: State of Ohio requires business to have their exit lights inspected annually.  We recommend that you schedule them with your extinguishers.  Call today to schedule your inspection.

Q: Why should I choose All-State Fire & Security LLC over other security or fire companies?
A: All-State Fire & Security LLC is a locally owned/operated company that strives to bring our customers excellent service as well as providing the most up-to-date equipment to our customers.  We provide both residential and commercial security and fire protections services.  We offer 24 hour security/fire monitoring services as well as 24 hour emergency service.

Q:I am thinking about getting VOIP (internet/phone) phones. Will my security system still work?
A: VOIP phones can interfere with your security system and the central station that monitors your security system.  The problem arises from the digital signal used by VOIP systems versus the analog signal used by land lines.  There are options that we can offer you if you are considering switching/installing VOIP phones such as the cell backup unit.  Call our office today to find out more.

Q: Can a security system save me money?
A:  Yes.  With a security system not only are you protecting your property, but adding value to your property.  Most homeowner’s insurance companies offer a 10-20 percent discount on their policies if you install a monitored system.

Q: If there is a power outage, will my system still work?
A:  Yes.  Our systems come with a battery back-up that will run for several hours.  Once the battery is low, you will see a signal on your keypad and will also be notified by the central station.

Q:  My alarm went off, but no one called me from the central station.
A. Our security systems come with a default 30-60 sec delay.  This default allows you enough time to get to the keypad before your security system calls out to the central station.  If you are testing the system for a call, set the alarm, open the door, and allow the system to go sound for at least a minute.  If you still do not receive a phone call, check to make sure your phone lines are operational.  If you still are having issues contact us to schedule service.
